RE: Bathroom light not working

Having a lose wire would be the obvious thought...with the vibration and motion that a TT goes through in the course of a trip, I'm surprised that more don't get loose!!
Good Luck
Yep! That is what it was. Just took me awhile to get around to it...

RE: Bathroom light not working

YES! I fixed it! (sometimes, it's the littlist things that can get a person excited...)
It was the bathroom light wall switch. I finally had a chance today to go out and really check things out. I took off the ceiling light, everything looked fine. Before I really took apart the light (and would have probably ruined it), I took the wall switch off the wall. Well, one of the wires had slipped off the switch (also, I disconnected all power to the TT before doing any of this). I managed to grab the loose wire before it fell down in to the wall. I then carefully tightened the spade bits of both wires, and pushed them back on the switch. Everything works fine now!
We've been using a battery powered camping latern in the bathroom all summer, so as usual with only one trip left I finally fixed it...
Thanks all for the suggestions.

RE: Want to buy a HiLo

I'm considering upgrading to a 1988 HiLo for about $3000 when I return from iraq next month. Is there anything I should look for when I see it?
Thanks
I would look it over VERY carfully. You are talking about a 20 year old camper.

RE: Whats the best battery for my TT.

Lots of reading on these forums about batteries. The basic battery that comes with a TT will last for a weekend dry camping if you are careful of power usage. You should recharge it with a generator, or a battery charger when you are home. Don't depend on your tow vehicle to recharge it.
Your basic TT battery will not run your air conditioner or microwave.
If you are planning on dry camping for long periods, you may want to read up on solar power and 6 volt battery setups.

And what, exactly, is it that is keeping you out of New England?? Hmmm?

RE: Introducing myself

Remember to take plenty of "before" pictures before starting the remodeling! It is great when people post "before and after" pictures. Gives people lots of ideas and possibilities.
And Hello!

RE: AFTER MARKET ROTORS

Your local auto parts store may have "heavy duty" rotors, you just have to ask. Also, double check that your rear brakes are working correctly. Your front brakes maybe doing more work than they have to.

RE: speed limit

What I love are those people who claim that if someone is going the speed limit, but not as fast as someone else wants to go, that person going the speed limit will be given a ticket by the state police.
Also, what exactly is the purpose of this thread?

they are best described by the following internet "How many forum users does it take to change a lightbulb"
.
LOL! That is great!
BUT, by the way, your post doesn't include my "LOL" response.

RE: Water in the Campgrounds

We use Brita filter jugs for drinking water, and re-fill water bottles from it. Water bottles will many times last us months with constant refilling. We throw them out when they get dirty, look bad, depending on our mood, when the moon rises, etc. We've never had any problem re-using water bottles, and it gives us a convenient way to always have cold water "to go".
I have gotten so used to filtered well water, that I really can't drink city water directly from the tap. The chlorine flavor shocks me, tastes like drinking pool water. I am always amazed that people with city water don't taste it, but you can get used to anything.
Otherwise, I don't think any of us have ever gotten sick from campground water.

RE: Problems getting to the forums

Happens to me, and the last month or so it has gotten worse. You can try different ways to get on - back arrows, shortcut link, email notification... Sometimes that will work. Otherwise I just get off and try coming back later.
Sometimes it will be good for a week, then really bad for a few days. There doesn't seem to be any pattern. I used to think that people who posted about problems with these forums were just whiners, but over time I have come to understand what they are talking about.

RE: Do you disconnect battery during storage??

I disconnect the cables from the terminals on the battery when we aren't going to use it for more than a week. In the winter I take the battery out and put it up on a shelf for the winter, as I have heard that it is better for batteries to be off the concrete floor (have no idea if that makes a different).

RE: Door Hits Frame

I have shaved the end of our bathroom door, though, to make it close easier. You have to be REAL careful trying to shave/trim those "high quality"( :R ) doors... you can easily destroy them.

It was on correctly, the original owner just backed up faster than you.
LOL!
I have found this thread interesting... maybe it's just the "Toolman Taylor" in me...

RE: Door Hits Frame

Yes, the frame does flex that much. How well our bathroom door works tells me if I leveled our TT correctly... lol

RE: Overhead MPG readout vs. hand calculation

Now that I've had my truck for a few months, I have found that the computer is usually within .5 mpg when you get to about 1/2 tank of fuel used. Right after I fill up the computer mileage will jump really high, but then it levels out after awhile. I hand calculate all the time out of habit.

RE: Empty the Tanks

I've never had any residue when I remove the cap from the sewer pipe. Sounds like your valves are leaking. May not be a big deal right now, but what about dumping after a week long camping trip? You may have a mess on your hands (literally!).

Is your fuel filter clean? Have you replaced it recently? Have you drained the fuel filter recently?
